چکیده
The new Lcica RM 2165 automatic, heavy-duty microtome has an advanced step motor that permits an exact specimen feed and reproducible sectioning results. Features include 70 mm vertical stroke length, unique step trim function, and programmable specimen retraction. Technical features include a handwheel rocking sectioning mode; the motorized specimen feed can be linked to change the handwheel turning direction. Thus, the manual sectioning mode allows the user to trim the specimen by handwheel rocking in addition to the standard trim function. For safety, the Leica RM 2165 integrates two locking systems. The handwheel is easily locked in any position via a quick locking system, or sectioning can be interrupted by pushing a button on the control panel. Circle letter f on reader response card.

A Data Model for Handling Whole Slide Microscopy Images in Picture Archiving and Communications Systems
Extremely large medical images, like ones of virtual slide microscopy, are beyond some limitations of the DICOM standard (e.g., a 4 Gbyte barrier, caused by 32-bit architecture). Some solutions and trade-offs have been already proposed and included in the DICOM standard (e.g., usage of JPEG2000 image compression standard, JPEG2000 interactive protocol [JPIP] and division of the images into smal...
متن کاملA Content-Based Approach to Image Retrieval in Medical Applications
INTRODUCTION Digital imaging has become the most prominent modality in medicine. Beside computed tomography (CT) or nuclear medicine, which have been always digital, plain radiography, endoscopy, and microscopy are nowadays captured directly digital, too. Picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) have been established in the hospitals all over the world to manage these information reso...

Within recent years the use of medical images for diagnosis purposes has become necessity. The limitation in transmission and storage space also growing size of medical images has necessitated the need for efficient method, then image Compression is required as an efficient way to reduces irrelevant and redundancy of the image data in order to be able to store or transmits data. It also reduces...
متن کاملWavelets for Texture Description in Nephele System
In our paper we introduce comprehensive solution for processing and archiving information about artwork specimens used in the course of art restoration – Nephele. The information processing based on image data is used in the procedure of identification of pigment and binder present in the artwork, which is very important issue for restorers. Proposed approach geometrically aligns images of micr...
متن کاملOpen source tools for management and archiving of digital microscopy data to allow integration with patient pathology and treatment information
BACKGROUND Virtual microscopy includes digitisation of histology slides and the use of computer technologies for complex investigation of diseases such as cancer. However, automated image analysis, or website publishing of such digital images, is hampered by their large file sizes. RESULTS We have developed two Java based open source tools: Snapshot Creator and NDPI-Splitter. Snapshot Creator...
متن کاملHow to convert a traditional electron microscopy laboratory to digital imaging: follow the 'middle road'.
Today, electron microscopy (EM) is increasingly confronted by the revolution in image-processing technology provoked by modern computers. Digital cameras are fast replacing film-based cameras in EM, as elsewhere, and the procedures for digital image-archiving, image-analysis, and image publication are rapidly evolving. To take advantage of these advances, we have chosen for the moment a 'middle...
